Races of Antoria

The humanoid races can be split into two major categories, the northern Busdaric root, which has bluish to grey to pale skin tones, and the southern Rannoric root, which has warm skin tones.

The subcategory of these races were pseudo-races, which either had faded or shared features. It is notable that both races had wildly variable features, and the only lack of warm colors in north and lack of cold colors in south were the only universal indicators.

Busdaric Races

The true Busdaric races share the defining traits of the peoples of the North and are regarded as pure-blooded Pelonnians. Their common features include skin in cool shades of blue to gray and facial structures that are harsher and more strongly defined. Southern peoples typically portrayed the Busdars as intellectually inferior, but the Antoric Worldbook, Vice Merial Arhim expressed the idea more carefully, suggesting instead that they perceived the world differently.

The Wilderians or Busdars referred to a humanoid race that lived in the Norths of Pelonnia, having developed separately from the southern Rannoric root race and forming their own distinctive and hierarchical society in the inland regions isolated by the Pelonnian Mountain Range. The Wilderians had always been surrounded by an air of mystery and isolation. They were feared among other peoples, and horror stories were written about them.

In appearance, Busdars differed from the warm-brown-hued Rannoric humanoids: the northerners’ skin was cold gray to blue in hue, they were hairier, shorter but sturdier in build, and their hair and eyes were different. Elsewhere, the Wilderians were often regarded as intellectually inferior and uncivilized brutes.

The Wilderian minority living in Ionia were called Rasacks, and they had their own role in Ionian mythology as the foul, cruel beings created by the devil Rasathan itself from the triemel-angels.

The Perilleans had a derogatory name for the Wilderians in Palpur language (buriancae tumbarion), which transliterated into Busdars in Silvon (Eng. Wilderians).

The Wilderians referred to the Perilleans – and all other southern peoples – as Faireans (Pecuil: literally ”a cutie”). The Hellornians they called sparc (Eng. Sparkeys). Busdaric people shared a common dislike towards Faireanic and Rannoric people, considering them smug-looking slimeball nincompoops who speak with a slick tongue.

Rasacks

The Rasacks, or Wanderer Busdars, were a people originating from Pelonnia who had spread across nearly all regions north of the Silannic Strait.

According to Belation, they were human monstrosities created by the devil Rasathan itself, living simple and miserable lives and committing inherently evil acts. This view had already prevailed during the Selerian Era, when the Rasacks were regarded simply as savage wild-men with no value, who were to be eradicated. They were the common fodder for heroes of the Golden Age, and were hunted for sport.

The Yonian Book of Katation (Selenthic Era) defined the Rasacks as a distinct people (thanks to Arhim), but the Palpurians and many others continued to describe them as barbarians or equated them with foul animals.

Arnic People (Arns)

Arns (Arnic), Arkadics (Arcad), or in Palpuric terms, Coast Busdars

The Arns were more slender, less hairy, and more intelligent than the other Wilderian races. Their culture developed mostly in the land of Phanim. Defeated by physically stronger Wilderians, they fled across Lake Phanim and developed a high Arnic culture, agriculture, and a structured society.

Eventually, they subjugated the less intelligent Busdars, Morcks, and Causucks, using them as servants, soldiers, and slaves, establishing the deeply rooted Caste System of the Norths. Through this, Arkadic high culture spread across Pelonnia.

Ängerians adopted Arnic ways, and when Balbouricon and the Vaskites rose, the Arkadic Order retreated again beyond Lake Phanim. After this, the Arns and Ängerians shared rulership.

Causucks

Causucks (Cauzuc), also called Colossic Busdaars

The Causucks were larger and stronger than other Busdar races but were considered the least intelligent (after the Morcks). They originally lived in hunting tribes, but the Arns discovered that Causucks could be trained into capable warriors, and thus they became the dominant military class in the Norths, taking great pride in this role. Physically imposing and well-equipped, they formed a frightening force against other folks, and it was mostly due to the Causuck Armies that the Wilderians conquered all of Pelonnian continent. However, they were considered too unintelligent to gain or maintain real power in a structured society, so the rulers did not fear rebellion. They formed a social class between the ruling Arns and Ängers and the Common Busdars. As long as they were well-fed, equipped, and respected, they served loyally.

Ängerians

Ängerian dwarfs (Änger or Inger), also called Marsh Busdars

The Ängerian dwarf people lived mainly in the marshes of Änkerland in the Deep Wilds. They were described as small, sturdy, cruel, and reclusive, yet power-hungry and greedy. Together with the Arns, they formed the elite of the Wilderian society and typically acted as merchants, landowners, sorcerers, shamans, and chieftains.

Morcks

Morckmen or Morrock (Morc), also called Mountain Busdars

The Morcks were a mountain-dwelling race related to the Causucks, but even larger and stronger, the biggest of all humanoid races, reaching over 10 feet tall, and usually very hairy.

There were at least three distinct tribes: the Swamp Morcks of Änger, with large paws and long claws; the Forest Morcks of Stryvewoods; and the Snow Morcks of the Pelonnian Mountains, with thick white fur and sharp climbing claws.

The Morcks were the least numerous and most reclusive, living in small, isolated communities across the mountains of Pelonnia, but they were highly territorial. They were often enslaved for the hardest labor, and due to their limited intelligence, they could only perform simple carrying and digging tasks and had to be motivated by food or pain.

Puskites

Puskites were a minor group sharing traits of Faireans and Causucks.

Common Busdars

(Bustarc)

The Common Busdars formed the majority of the Wilderians and acted as a kind of middle class in the Norths. They were commonly serfs and even when free, seldom owned anything or held significant power. They were considered less intelligent than the Arns and Ängerians but more physically robust, and were commonly employed in manual labor of all sorts.

Maganic People

S

Shamborians

Shamborian Peninsula was a true exception in Pelonnia with its folk: Shamborians didn't seem to share any traits neither in blood nor culture and tongue with any of the common Busdaric races, differing even from the Faireans. They were known from their beautiful looks, fair skin and hair, pale eyes, and lilting language.

People of Ra-Land (Ramans)

S

Hellornians

Hellornians were by far the most unique group of Faireanic people, only remotely related to Ramans. Their most notable feature was their crimson-hued hair and eyes, with their skin generally bearing shades of blue. One very unusual trait was that most of the Hellornians were left-handed.

The Hellornians were dubbed as "the Dragonfolk", living in a realm that was home to the only fire-breathing dragons on Antoria.

Colossarians

S

Pseudo-Busdars

Pseudo-Busdars are a bloodline that shares most of its features with the Busdaric root, but has been mixed with Rannoric blood or derived into a separate genetic line.

Phanim People

This minority, apart from the Yonian slave colonies, shared heritage with Rannoric people mixed with Palpurian and Fairean blood. It was a minor and obscure folk that eventually got mixed mostly with Yonian slaves.

Perilleanic People

Perilleans were undoubtedly the largest of the Fairean group. They bore fair skin, hair, and pale eyes by nature, and had their own language. The Palpurian culture was developed in the Dimalorion Peninsula, and the Perilleans took great pride standing apart from the other folks of the Norths and vehemently denied any relations to their "barbaric blood".

Vaskites

The Blue Giants of the Grand Mountains (Stormtire, Vaskimortos) were presumed to share blood with Morcks and Faireans, and were often considered to be the most intelligent folks in all of Pelonnia.

Faireanic People

Faireans (Pecuil), also called Noble Busdars

The Faireans formed their own minority with their distinctly fair features compared to common Busdars, from which many other Pelonnic folks derived, such as the Colossians, Shamborians, and Perilleans. They existed alongside the Arns as a distinct tribe and lived mostly outside the mountains in coastal regions. The term Fairean could include the Faireanic sub-species itself, the Perilleans, Arns, Shamborians, Colossians, Hellornians, and Cauzavars. The Perilleans tried to distinguish themselves as separate from the Faireans, and the Palpurians strongly denied any kinship with the Wilderians. Among the Arns, the Faireans held an equally high position at the top of the Caste of the Norths.

Necessary note: in the Northern Wilds, a Fairean was a blanket term to all peoples living beyond the mountains, who were considered proud, evil, and wealthy through crooked means.

The most famous Fairean was Phannatar; she was of Shamborian birth and often considered as the fairest of them all.
