The Thunderfire Saga is a peak empire, non-grim, non-romantic adventure fantasy series with emphasis on character development, plot and internal consistency. It manages to bring fresh originality by heavily leaning away from the typical medieval Anglo-Nordic Tolkienesque tropes yet still bearing all the familiar elements to be readily accessible and easy reading.

Magic in the series is limited only to an ability called the Secret, something that could be accessed by everyone, which is the very reason it plays so major role in the world.

AN EPIC ADVENTURE

Once upon a time on Antoria, there were legendary lightning warriors who wielded thunderblades and rode winged lions called saginairs. The Saginair Rangers were the elite of the Yanakhon Empire.

Their power came from the Salat Kata, a latent mental power that was unlocked with a cipher called the Prime Code. Keeping this secret was their greatest duty, for anyone could learn it.

Who controls the Secret controls the world.

THE THUNDERFIRE SAGA

“Anyone can learn the Secret. That’s why it is so dangerous.”

The Thunderfire Saga is a classic hero's journey adventure full of actionm, blending inspiration from various ages, cultures, and mythologies. It combines Roman empire with Chinese ingenuity, colonialism and revolutionaries, Dragon Riders, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

At its heart is the Secret, a latent mental art unlocked with a cipher. Mastering it can turn anyone into a near-mythic warrior, able to bend wills, whisper to beasts, and wield blades of thunderfire, superweapons that can tear apart an enemy squad with a single blast.

Fifteen-year-old Sagiron only yearns for a small adventure, but ends up seeking vengeance for his father. Tables turn fast when the colonial knight-detectives get a lead on him, and he becomes the focal point of what will set the future of all of Yanakhon.

There are no chosen ones, only luck and skill - and Sagiron never really had neither. The Secret can bring ultimate power, but nothing prevents it turning into a weapon of ultimate ruin. Worst is, anyone can learn it, so everyone will attempt to seize it.
