Yonian history
The City of Silantis (200BSC; Before Selerian Count)
The proto-realm developed around the city of Silantis at the narrowest point of the Strait of Silas, when the strait was still passable. The supevolcanic eruption of Seleturm destroyed the city as a whole and blocked the strait, splitting two folks apart. Thus were formed what were later known as The Selerian people and the Ikharonic people.
The Selerian Empire (200BSC-0)
The Silannic people habited the Seleria Proper, the land south of the Silver Mountains. To face the wildfolk (rasacks), the Silver Fort (Pandur Seler) was built in the Silver Pass. Expeditionary campaigns were made into the northern regions, and the fort became obsolete before it was completed. Living off the verdant plains of Seleria and the Eastern Mainland under one king of kings, seleriator they titled their ruler, the Selerian realm grew prosperous.
The legions conquered more of the Mainland, marching west while purging the small rasack communities, pushing all the way to Blackland, where they faced a new kind of folk: the Ikharonians. Having forgotten their shared history, these two clashed over the western coastal region of Teleng. The Vanguard fortifications of Valon and Metoria were built during this time, the lands between the Black Stream and West Stream remaining unclaimed for generations.
The seleriators ultimately refrained from warfare, resorting to trade instead; this was known as the Selerian Golden Era, where most of the Selerian legends and famous persons hailed, including the Tragedy of Selensil. Seleriator Narwin and his only daughter, Princess Selensil. Old as he was, many attempted his daughter's hand, but to grant his permission, the seleriator gave them nigh impossible tasks to complete.
Metoria's patral-governor, Taranthurm, was one of those taking on the tasks and accomplishing them one after the other, causing the seleriator to send him to the farthest reaches of the known world. So long he was away that Selensil, who had found true love from him, grew certain he had fallen. Ultimately, she threw herself off the Silvon Palace's bridge into the falls, only to be witnessed by returning Taranthurm. The Metorian high knights had prepared to take over the seleriator by force if necessary, urging Taranthurm to act, but the seleriator was aware of this plot. The patral did not care, for he was broken enough to jump after her.
Regardless, Narwin retreated into his palaces, never to be seen again, until he passed, leaving the realm to be led by the Imperial Paration. These years marked the downfall of the empire, which grew too corrupt to hold together. Patral-governors claimed khonnors, declaring themselves as kings; Metoria was one of these. Of those patrals, Yonturil was the one who rose as the strongest, claiming Narwin's seat of seleriator.
In the downfall, all sorts of prophets loomed large. One of them was Durachim the Belsetar, who vowed for a major cataclysm to occur, arousing everyone to rise against the corrupt and the oppressors.
The Seafall (Year Zero)
Something odd did happen: the sea fell, draining away from the Mainland's plains, retreating back hundreds of miles. Islands were left inland as hills, countless ships getting stuck in the mud. No one could explain what was happening, but it was Durachim who was deemed as the true prophet, gaining immense popularity beside the Metesolithic Priests worshipping the Seleturm volcano's legacy.
Seleriator Yonturil answered with force, sending legions to slay the rebelling folks.
It was during these times, when Durachim accidentally initiated himself to the Secret. By his loyal followers, he was called an oracle thereafter.
Durachim fled, leading a migration to the west, wandering deep into the southern wastelands in search of what Taranthurm had claimed to have found: the Hidden Valley, Harachim. In faith, entire folks followed him, and the rumors turned out true: the valley was there, and it was even more prosperous than they had told. Selerian scouts could not find the way and were easy to ambush in the passes leading there, and for years the Harachim grew.
After the Seafall, rich pastures formed from the old seabed, and there was hundreds and hundreds of miles of it. A new era of prosperity never seen before graced Seleria, cementing Yonturil's position as the ultimate ruler.
Oracle Durachim spent all this time to contemplate, trying to find ways to teach what he had discovered to his loyal matsurs. One day, this miracle did happen, and they managed to write down the Prime Code, with which anyone able to interpret the calligraphy could learn the Secret.
The School Guild of Harachim was formed, its matsurs initiated as Secret-Keepers, Oracle Durachim as its katamatsur. In the first contact against the best legions of Seleria, the matsurs matched them effortlessly, and when a thunderstorm came, they slayed scores of troops. Harachim conquered all the Southernlands from Seleria, and proceeded to the north through Silvon, facing Metoria.
Yonturil was so impressed by the oracle that he entered Harachim - alone - escorted by the Blind Matsurs through the Forbidden Valley. He contemplated with Oracle Durachim, his plan to gather knowledge of their godly powers, but instead, Durachim bent the seleriator with the Secret during those days. Yonturil was a changed man when he returned; it was said Yonturil returned as Durachim's puppet, with a carefully crafted plan to crumble the Selerian Empire so Durachim could claim it.
The Rise of Gralon
Folks of the conquered lands were put to slavery. Infants were stolen from mothers to be raised as warriors to Hagat Belait, the God's Finest, Harachim's elite guard. One of them was Gralon, a Silvonian boy, who excelled in the school, fighting against Metorians and other foes. Until he met his mother, learning the roots how he had ended in the service, which was slavery.
He urged others to join, but was shunned even by his own brother, and when the matsurs learned of him, he fled the School to the mountains, getting lost in the chase. During that time, he found a young saginair with a broken wing, unable to return to the mountains, sick and fading. To his best ability, he hunted for the beast and treated the wing, which healed over time - all the while hiding from the Blind Matsurs looking for him.
The saginair, Anduriel he named him for the white stripes in his damascus-patterned fur, had grown to trust Gralon, saved him from a cliff before the matsurs, and he took the youth to the mountains to meet the pride of saginairs, who took him as one. Gralon crafted a saddle for the beast, and they traveled across the realms, when something struck him.
That night, he flew to the isolated tower of Durachim's palace, and stole the Prime Code tablet. In the mountains he practiced calligraphy, until he self-initiated. With the knowledge, he faced the Hagat Belait again, convincing them with the beast and the skill. They freed the slaves, and a rebellion broke out in Harachim. During their flight back to home, Silvon, seventy-two warriors were initiated to the Secret. They clashed with Harachim's troops in Gatavangel pass, when a thunderstorm rolled over, sealing their victory. Durachim met his fate in this battle.
As the Silvonians settled in their land, many other Secret-Keepers faced saginairs and bonded with them, and the Rangers set to safekeep Silvon. Legends of the Rangers riding winged lions and unleashing thunder upon the mundane spread faster than lightning, and a migration entered Silvon, with foes staying afar. Harachim was unable to act without the Prime Code.
After an odd contraption fell to a baggat valley known as Shalon, it was taken as a sign from Agath, and a temple was built there. Shalon Brethren was tasked to guard that holy place.
News of a beast far fouler than those they rode emerged from Teleng: a grand dragon had came from the north, with blue-skinned giants. Seleriator Yonturil fell there, and Metoria stood as the last line of defense, asking help from Silvon.
So the Twelve Rangers rode to war, facing the grand dragon ridden by Agnas, carrying Miloren, a blade that needed no thunder. The Saginair Rangers were fast, but not fast enough; many fell. But it also became the fall of Agnas, his dragon wounded, as was Anduriel. Cornered in the Blackwater Castle, Gralon found the blade of Agnas, and slew the dragon. The Metorians bowing to him now, he conquered Teleng and prepared to claim Seleria after the power vacuum left by Yonturil, declaring himself the merial of all of the Yonian lands.
But his brother, Rasalon, grew jealous and greedy, murdering Gralon with Miloren, having been promised his seat as a reward by Metorians and other conspirators. The loyalists' response was fierce, and a war broke out, driving the realms in chaos.
Yet a new foe stepped forth: Havok from Vaskimortos, coming to reclaim his inheritance, the sword. He crushed the squabbling, weakened parties easily, but Absalat, the Grandmaster of Shalon Brethren cast the sword into Blackwater.
The Age of False Kings (1-100)
The sword became a symbol of lost unity, greatness, and above all, the inheritance of the king of kings. Whoever reclaimed it from the depths would be the one to bring about a new era. Many tried, from beggars to kings, Blackwater claiming most of them.
The remnants of the grand empires of yore crumbled, leaving nothing but hermit kingdoms, warlords and patral-governors to fight for their realms. However, the Secret was at large, with rogue Secret-Keepers roaming the lands, with no knowledge of how many copies of the Prime Code existed. The last Secret-Keepers of Harachim, Knights of Blackwater, and Shalon Brethren hunted them, chasing every rumor, all fighting to find a copy.
The Great Metorian Era (100-250)
Metoria eventually traced a hiding bloodline, discovering an isolated community from the Valon Mountains who had known and kept the Secret all that time, with a copy of the Prime Code. This discovery led to Metoria's knights being initiated, turning them unmatched. The age of Great Metoria began, with the knights leading armies to conquer lands deep into the Mainland plains and to the south, all the way the edge of the desolates of Karacho. The remaining Shalon Brethren was slain.
